No. 5 Seminoles Conclude Preparation For North Carolina

Sept. 20, 2001

The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles (2-0, 1-0 ACC) conducted a 15-period practice in shorts Thursday afternoon in the squad’s final day of preparation for Saturday’s game (Noon, ABC) at North Carolina (0-3, 0-1 ACC).

The Seminoles polished off their week of work with game situations against the scout teams.

“We’ve done just about everything we can do to prepare now,” Head Coach Bobby Bowden said. “We just need to get up there and play the game. It seems like it’s been a year since we played a ball game.”

The Seminoles will have a late-morning departure from Tallahassee and the team will have a brief walk through at Kenan Memorial Stadium prior to heading to the hotel.
Despite the many distractions, Coach Bowden feels the team has been focused and had a good week of practice.

“They’ve practiced good,” Bowden said. “I haven’t seen anything out of line or anybody that was holding back or moping. The practices have been good.”

Injury Report (game status): There were no new injuries in today’s practice. Charles Howard (probable), Travis Johnson (right ankle sprain, questionable), Jerome Carter (left elbow sprain, probable), Eric Powell (out), Leroy Smith (out), Randy Golightly (out), David Castillo will have surgery Friday morning on his left hand.
