No. 8 FSU Heads To No. 3 Auburn For Doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the second consecutive week, the Seminoles will hit the road for a top-10 road game as No. 8/7 Florida State (34-4) will play a doubleheader at No. 3/2 Auburn (41-4) on Wednesday, April 20. First pitch at Jane B. Moore Field will be at 5:00 p.m. ET, with game two following 30 minutes after the completion of game one.

The Seminoles rank No. 8 by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the week of April 19 and come in at No. 7 in the USA Softball poll, including two first-place votes.

“We love playing in these kinds of environments and against such quality opponents,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “Just like last week down at Florida, we expect tomorrow night to be an exciting game in a great atmosphere and an awesome opportunity to go out and have some fun and play Florida State softball. Auburn can really swing the bat, so we’ll need to make sure we don’t give them any extra bases and take advantage of our chances against their deep pitching staff. We’re prepared and ready and excited to get after it tomorrow.”

Florida State and Auburn are both in the top 10 in the NCAA in six different categories, including batting average, scoring, ERA and on-base percentage. The Seminoles are fifth in the nation with 2.68 stolen bases per game, while the Tigers are fifth in the country with 1.53 home runs per game.

The Seminoles lead the all-time series with Auburn, 15-8-1, dating back to 1997. FSU has won three of the last four meetings in the series and split a doubleheader in Tallahassee on March 25, 2015, winning game one 10-7 and losing 10-4 in game two.

Both games of Wednesday’s doubleheader will be broadcast online on the SEC Network+ with Brit Bowen and Branndi Melero on the call. There will also be a free live streaming radio broadcast from Robin Ahrberg and Ryann Day, along with live stats available on Seminoles.com. Ticket information can be found at www.auburntigers.com.
