TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Seminoles will take to the floor on Sunday to face Alcorn State at 5 p.m. in the second half of a Seminole basketball doubleheader as the FSU men’s team will take on FIU at 1 p.m.
The Seminoles and Braves will meet for the fi rst time on Sunday as the teams enter streaking in different directions. FSU has won seven straight to open the season, while Alcorn State has lost its only four games this year.
FSU is 2-3 all time agianst SWAC opponents going 2-2 against Alabama State and 0-1 against Mississippi Valley State, but head coach Sue Semrau is 2-0 vs. SWAC with a pair of wins over Alabama State in 2002 and 2007.
A win over the Braves would give Florida State an 8-0 record to start the season for just the second time in school history. The 2004-05 squad opened the year with victories in their fi rst 12 contests.
Scouting Alcorn State
Alcorn State has dropped its opening four contests of the season by an average of 17.7 per game.
Carolinsia Crumbly leads the Braves in scoring with 13.8 ppg, while Kiara Ruffi n (12.0) and Amanda Davidson (10.5) are also pouring in 10 points or more.
Alcorn State has been unable to control the boards this year as its opponents are pulling down 15 more rebounds per game.
The Braves are coming off a 69-53 loss at Southern Mississippi where Crumbly tallied 16 points off the bench.
Last Time Out
Courtney Ward scored 20 points to lead four players in double fi gures and No. 12 Florida State beat Indiana 82-74 Thursday night.
Jacinta Monroe added 17 points, Alysha Harvin 15 and Cierra Bravard 12 for the Seminoles (7-0), who outscored the Hoosiers 14-5 over the fi nal 3 minutes in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge game.
The win extended FSU’s road winning streak to 16 straight, dating back to a road loss at Maryland to end the 2007-08 season.

The Seminoles will take the week off for fi nal exams before heading to Orlando to face UCF on December 16 at 7 p.m.
The Golden Knights will play three games before the Seminoles come to town: Sunday vs. Washington, Dec. 12 at FAU and Dec. 14 vs. Alabama.
