PHILADELPHIA –
For the second straight day the FSU women’s 4x100m relay squad posted a 44.30 at the prestigious Penn Relays en route to a fifth-place finish.


The group of Marecia Pemberton, Candyce McGrone, Danielle Jeffrey and Teona Rodgers ran the ninth-fastest time in school history on Thursday with their 44.30 before equaling that mark on Friday.


The same exact foursome teamed up an hour later for the opening heats of the 4x200m relay and combined to run the fourth-fastest time at 1:33.52. The Seminoles will battle for the 2010 championship at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday.


The men’s distance medley relay team closed out the Seminole action at the Penn Relays on Friday as the group ran a 9:42.86 in the event to earn seventh place.


Matt Leeder opened the race for FSU with a 2:58.49 in the 1200m opening leg before Darrin Gibson ran a 47.83 in the 400m second leg. Gibson handed the baton off to Nathan Duby who covered the next 800 meters in 1:52.60 followed by freshman David Forrester who ran the final 1600m in 4:03.96 to claim seventh place.


The Seminole 4x200m relay squad will close out the Penn Relays for the Seminoles on Saturday at 2:35 p.m.
