TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Three members of the Florida State women’s soccer program were called up for the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team training camp beginning Saturday, December 12th and ending on December 19th. Amanda DaCosta, Tori Huster and former player Becky Edwards will represent the Seminoles in the upcoming camp which will be held at the Home Depot Center for the team’s final training camp of the year.

“We are happy anytime our kids have an opportunity to go and compete with their national teams,” said head coach Mark Krikorian. “Obviously the U-23’s is just one step away from the full team and I think Becky, Amanda and Tori are certainly all worthy of going in and competing. I am sure they will go in, do a very good job and give good representation of Florida State soccer and represent themselves very well also.”

U.S. head coach Bill Irwin has called in 24 players in a group that includes some of the top college players in the country as well as nine professionals who played in Women’s Professional Soccer this past season. While Edwards is playing professional soccer, and DaCosta will likely be in the spring having completed her eligibility, this will be a chance for Huster to further hone her skills for her senior season in 2011.

“Anytime you are competing against some of the best players in the country it gives you a chance to further measure yourself, play under pressure and know that the people you are playing with and against are elite level players,” added Krikorian. “For Tori in particular, after she spent a lot of time with the U-23’s most of the spring and most of the summer as well, she showed a great deal of progress during that time.”
