Florida State student-athletes participated in the Bethany Apartments Christmas Party, sponsored by the Capital City Kiwanis Club and the Moose Lodge, to help bring Christmas joy to children of “displaced families” who have been placed in temporary housing on Thursday, December 17.
Student-athletes spent time meeting, greeting and eating with the children as well as interacting in fun activities. Sprinter Charles Clark sang Christmas carols while linebacker Dekoda Watson spoke to the crowd about the importance of investing time in children and how much it means to them when we take the time to do so. At the end of the night Santa Claus made an appearance and the student-athletes helped pass out Christmas gifts to all the children who were in attendance.
“It was great to help out the community especially because I’ve grown up here,” swimmer Shawn Erickson said. “The excitement that the kids and even the parents had was very priceless.”
Thirteen student-athletes were in attendance including Dionte Allen, Charles Clarke, Caila Coleman, Shawn Erickson, Michelle Jenine, Cinnamon Johnson, Corey Magum, Maurice Mitchell, Jamie Robinson, Patrick Robinson, Tiara Swanagan, Dekoda Watson and Danielle Williams. Florida State would also like to thank Tim Atkinson of Capital City Kiwanis.
