TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State women’s basketball team learned its tournament fate Monday night as the Seminoles were tabbed as the No. 3 seed in the Dayton Regional. The Seminoles will face No. 14 seed Louisiana Tech on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Civic Center.
After posting a 26-5 record on the year and earning a share of their second straight ACC regular season title the Seminoles earned one of the top 12 seeds in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
FSU will take on the Western Athletic Conference Champion Louisiana Tech which posted a 23-8 record on the year. The last time Louisiana Tech was in the field of 64 was in 2006 when the Bulldogs fell to the Seminoles in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Denver, Colo. FSU is 1-2 all time against Louisiana Tech.
Also traveling to Tallahassee for the first and second rounds will be the No. 6 seed St. John’s (24-6, 12-4 Big East) and No. 11 seed Princeton (26-2, 14-0 Ivy). St. John’s finished fourth in the Big East with its 12-4 conference mark before falling in the quarterfinal round to Notre Dame. Princeton cruised to the Ivy League title with its perfect 14-0 conference mark.
FSU is 1-0 all time against St. John’s and has never met Princeton on the hardwood.
The St. John’s vs. Princeton matchup will open up the NCAA First Round in Tallahassee with a 12:21 p.m. tip prior to the Seminoles and Bulldogs tipping at 2:30 p.m.
