TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team will travel to Gainesville, Fla., to compete at the Gator Fall Classic which will be held November 5-7. The Gator Invitational will mark the Seminoles last fall tournament of the season. The University of Florida will play host to two other in-state rivals, Florida International and University of South Florida.

Matches will be held at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex and admission is free. Action begins Friday, November 5th at 3 p.m. Saturday’s action will begin at 9 a.m., with Sunday marking the final day with play getting underway at 8 a.m.

The Seminoles will have three ranked players competing at the invitational with No. 59 sophomore Noemie Scharle, No. 61 sophomore Francesca Segarelli and No. 64 senior Katie Rybakova. Senior Federica Suess and freshman Manon Veldman will also compete at the event. Rybakova is coming off a great run at the ITA South Regional Championships where she advanced to the semifinals of the highly competitive tournament held in Athens, Ga.

Gator Fall Classic Format

• Athletes will be assigned to play a singles match in one of six different flights. A win playing a Flight 1 or 2 match results in 3 points, a win in Flight 3 or 4 is worth 2 points and a victory in Flight 5 or below will be one point. The player with the most points at the end of the weekend will be declared the singles champion. Competitors are allowed to play in different flights each day.

• A similar format will be followed for crowning the doubles champion. The winner, however, will be an individual and not a doubles team, since schools are allowed to pair different athletes each day in the doubles competition.

• Every morning, each school will submit a list of the athletes it wants to compete in a specific flight, so pairings will not be available until 30 minutes prior to the start of action.

• For weather-related delays, call 352-375-4683, ext. 3044
