TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The No. 24 Florida State softball team will face Radford in the Athens Regional of the 2010 NCAA Division I Softball Championship, the NCAA Division I Softball Committee announced Sunday night.

The winner of the FSU-Radford game on May 21 will take on the winner of the Elon-Georgia contest. UGA is a No. 6 seed.

The Seminoles are quite familiar with Athens, Ga. as the team played a single game there earlier this season. In that March 24 ballgame, FSU earned a 4-3 win over the Bulldogs.

“It’s very nice to be going somewhere we have been before and where we are comfortable,” FSU head coach Lonni Alameda said. “Georgia is a very good team and the fact that we picked up a win over them is a confidence booster as we head back up there.

“Radford is a great team that got some good wins this year and we are excited to play them.”

The team that comes out victorious of the Athens Regional will face the winner of the Columbus Regional, which consists of No. 11 Cal, Ohio State, Bucknell and Kentucky.
