TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Redshirt senior golfer Cristobal Del Solar ignited Florida State Men’s Golf on Day one of the season-opening Sea Best Invitational held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He is tied for fourth at 3-under (70-67) through two rounds while the Seminoles are in fourth place.
Florida State shot 2-over (281-281) through the first two rounds of action at the Dye’s Valley course. Florida (-8) currently has a one-stroke lead over second-place North Carolina (-7), while Lipscomb (+1) sits in third.
Del Solar finished the day with a good second round, shooting a 3-under 67 as he capitalized with four birdies to just one bogey. He is one of 10 golfers in the field shooting under par on par 4 holes, with an average score of 3.96 (-1) in the category. His eight birdies are tied for fifth amongst the field.
The Chile native shot an even-par 70 in his first round, adding four birdies in the round. Del Solar has birdied the 5-par, 559-yard 16th hole in both rounds.
Redshirt junior Harry Ellis is tied for 14th at 1-over (67-74). He tied his lowest career score in a round with a 3-under 67 in the opening round, tying the 67 he put up in the 2014 Seminole Intercollegiate. Despite recording a quadruple bogey on the first hole in round two, he battled back to shoot a 74 and keep himself in contention.
Sophomore Corey Carlson is tied for 25th at 4-over (74-70), while redshirt freshman Jonathan Keppler joins him at 4-over (72-72). Senior Josh Lee (72-72) is also 4-over and tied for 25th.
Golfing unattached is freshman Greyson Porter, who won the Florida Junior title at TPC Sawgrass while in high school. The Clearwater, Fla., native debuted at 7-over (69-78) and is tied for 12th.
FSU tees off on Tuesday in the final round of the Sea Best Invitational beginning at 8:45 a.m.
