Noles In The NFL: Week 16

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Telvin Smith continued his outstanding rookie season, Christian Jones made big contributions for the Bears and a pair of former Florida State running backs found paydirt in Week 16 NFL action.

Here’s a look at how all the former Noles did in the regular season’s penultimate week.

JACKSONVILLE 21, TENNESSEE 13

Jaguars: LB Telvin Smith started and had a game-high 15 tackles (one for loss). LB Geno Hayes started but did not record any statistics.

Titans: RB/KR Leon Washington caught seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown and added 11 yards on four carries. LB Kamerion Wimbley started and made one tackle.

WASHINGTON 27, PHILADELPHIA 24

Redskins: RB Chris Thompson caught three passes for five yards.

SAN DIEGO 38, SAN FRANCISCO 35 (OT)

49ers: WR Anquan Boldin started and caught seven passes for 61 yards. LB Nick Moody started and made seven tackles. DE Cornellius Carradine finished with two tackles.

CAROLINA 17, CLEVELAND 13

Panthers: WR Kelvin Benjamin started and caught five passes for 47 yards. K Graham Gano made a 23-yard field goal and two extra points. He missed a 49-yarder.

Browns: WR Rodney Smith was inactive.

DETROIT 20, CHICAGO 14

Lions: DT Andre Fluellen played but did not record any statistics.

Bears: LB Christian Jones started and had a game-high 11 tackles.

HOUSTON 25, BALTIMORE 13

Ravens: DT Timmy Jernigan started and made four tackles. S Terrence Brooks (knee) is out for the season.

MIAMI 37, MINNESOTA 35

Vikings: CB Xavier Rhodes started and made five tackles (one for loss). QB Christian Ponder did not play.

ATLANTA 30, NEW ORLEANS 14

Falcons: RB Devonta Freeman led the team with 36 yards and a touchdown on five carries and also caught three passes for 48 yards. RB Antone Smith is out for the season.

Saints: CB Patrick Robinson started and made three tackles. DT Brodrick Bunkley is out for the season.

NEW ENGLAND 17, NEW YORK JETS 16

Patriots: C Bryan Stork started.

PITTSBURGH 20, KANSAS CITY 12

Steelers: LB Lawrence Timmons started and had a game-high 13 tackles (one for loss). LB Vince Williams made six tackles (three on special teams) and recovered a fumble.

Chiefs: C Rodney Hudson started.

GREEN BAY 20, TAMPA BAY 3

Packers: DT Letroy Guion started but did not record any statistics.

NEW YORK GIANTS 37, ST. LOUIS 27

Giants: CB Mike Harris had five tackles (one for loss) and a pass defended. WR Preston Parker caught three passes for 32 yards and returned one kickoff for 24 yards.  He was ejected late in the first half for unnecessary roughness.

Rams: CB Lamarcus Joyner recorded one tackle.

DALLAS 42, INDIANAPOLIS 7

Cowboys: LB Dekoda Watson was inactive.

Colts: DE Bjoern Werner had three tackles (two for loss) and defended a pass.

OAKLAND 26, BUFFALO 24

Raiders: K Sebastian Janikowski made four field goals (49, 45, 38 and 36 yards) and two extra points. He missed a 48-yard attempt. RT Menelik Watson started and made headlines for donating his game check to the family of a young girl with a heart condition.

Bills: LB Nigel Bradham started and made two tackles (one on special teams). LS Garrison Sanborn handled his duties. QB EJ Manuel did not play.

SEATTLE 35, ARIZONA 6

Cardinals: CB Antonio Cromartie started and made two tackles.

CINCINNATI 37, DENVER 28

Broncos: CB Tony Carter was inactive.
