Feb. 8, 2014

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The Florida State indoor volleyball played tough in its first exhibition of the spring as it hosted LSU and South Carolina in Tully Gym on Saturday.

“I think we played as well as we possibly could with who we had,” head coach Chris Poole said. “After a few player departures we are still looking to fit people in the right positions and we did well today.”

Overall, the Seminoles won 9 out of the 11 sets played during the day. Those dropped sets were both the first of each match in the afternoon session, to which the Noles responded by dominating the second.

Following the final planned set, the coaches decided to play an additional 25-point set, resulting in a FSU victory, 25-22.

The scores are as follows:

Two – 25 point sets / One – 15 point set
9:30-10:30am – FSU vs South Carolina (25-8, 25-13, 15-8)
10:30-11:30am – South Carolina vs LSU
11:30-12:30pm – LSU vs FSU (25-22, 25-13, 15-9)

Two – 25 point sets
1:45-2:30pm – FSU vs South Carolina (20-25, 25-16)
2:30-3:15pm – South Carolina vs LSU
3:15-4:00pm – LSU vs FSU (23-25, 25-9, 25-22)

“I thought all of our hitters really played well,” Poole said. “This is the most consistent Mara Green has ever trained and it really showed on the court today. I also thought Sarah Burrington, Nicole Walch and Milica Kubura played very well.”

FSU will also host Florida in an exhibition on March 21. For more information visit Twitter and Facebook.
