TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
After weeks of training the Florida State women’s basketball team will finally hit the practice floor as a team on Friday when practice can officially begin. The Seminoles will take the floor at the basketball training center on Friday with their sights on repeating as ACC regular season champions and advancing to their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
The Seminoles return three starters and seven letterwinners from a year ago and will add in the services of four freshmen this season. Leading the way will be senior captains Jacinta Monroe, Alysha Harvin and Angel Gray who all contributed to lead FSU to a 26-8 overall mark a year ago.
Joining the fray will be a pair of true freshmen in Chelsea Davis (Townsend, Del.) and Leonor Rodriguez (Canary Islands, Spain), while head coach Sue Semrau will have the luxury of adding a pair of redshirt freshmen to the mix as well in Chasity Clayton and Alexa Deluzio.
Also back for the Seminoles are starters Courtney Ward and Cierra Bravard who combined for 17.1 points per game a year ago. Adding depth for the Seminoles will be junior Christian Hunnicutt and sophomore Kayli Keough.
The first test for the Seminoles will come in a little over two weeks when FSU hosts Valdosta State in an exhibition on November 1 scheduled for 2 p.m.
