TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida State swimming and diving teams will welcome Georgia Tech and NC State on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Morcom Aquatics Center in the final dual meet of the 2013 calendar year.
“This is great,” head coach Frank Bradley said. “NC State and Georgia Tech will be great competition. NC State has always been a nice matchup even when I was still in school. We’re excited to get it moving and competing and hopefully it’s a beautiful day tomorrow.”
The FSU women’s team (3-1) is coming off a 189-109 win over Florida Gulf Coast from last weekend, while Georgia Tech (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season against Georgia on Tuesday. NC State (1-0) opened its season with a conference win over Virginia Tech.
“We’ve worked very hard this season,” senior Julia Henkel said. “We’re excited to show everyone what we’ve been doing and we’re ready to step up.”
Florida State (1-0) is one of four ACC schools to make its debut in the first CSCAA men’s swimming and diving poll of the season. The 10th- ranked Seminoles head the ACC and are followed by Virginia Tech (No. 14), North Carolina (No. 17) and NC State (No.24).
The Wolfpack were handed a loss by Virginia Tech to start the season, while the Yellow Jackets fell on Tuesday to Georgia.
Friday’s meets for the men’s team are the lone ACC duals of the 2013-14 season.
“It’s the first home meet of the year for us,” senior Tom Neubacher said. “We don’t get that many meets at home so we have to take advantage. Everyone is doing well this year. Speaking for the divers, in our first meet, everyone was composed and we knew what we needed to do.”
The senior class will be recognized prior to the start of the meet. Live timing can be found on the meet mobile app (for smartphones). For more information on FSU swimming and diving, check back to Facebook and Twitter.
