Noles Split Doubleheader at Clemson, Wofford

Clemson, S.C. – Women’s tennis split a pair of matches Saturday at No. 42 Clemson and Wofford, beating the Terriers in the first match-up between the programs.

#42 Clemson 6, #66 Florida State 1

Freshman Julia Mikulski was the lone point for Florida State in Clemson’s 6-1 win over the Noles. Mikulski was a 7-5, 6-2 winner on Court 4 over Ally Miller-Krasilnikov.

Clemson won the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2, while FSU’s Lana Rush and Daniela Schippers won on Court 3, 6-2 over Joana Eidukonyte and Daniela Ruiz. It was Rush and Schippers’ first time playing together this season.

In singles, Clemson’s Jenny Moinard beat Schippers on Court 6, 6-3, 6-4, and No. 124 Fernanda Navarro beat Yukako Noi on Court 2, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 before Mikulski put Florida State on the board.

The Tigers clinched the match with No. 17 Eidukonyte’s 7-5, 6-4 win on Court 3 over Gabriella Castaneda. Clemson also took the remaining two matches: Tristen Dewar beat Rush, 7-5, 6-5, ret., while No. 92 Ayan Broomfield beat No. 72 Daneika Borthwick on Court 1, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2).

#66 Florida State 4, Wofford 1

Florida State beat Wofford 4-1 Saturday night, snapping a four match losing-streak and moving to 8-6 on the season. The Seminoles won the doubles point and took straight set victories on Courts 1, 3, and 4 to secure the win.

Yukako Noi won on Court 1, 6-2, 6-2, while Mikulski won 6-1, 6-2 on Court 3 for her second win of the day. Castaneda won at -1 and -1 for the FSU win.

Florida State will host No. 34 on at 4 p.m. on March 18 at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match will stream live on ESPN3 with Ariya Massoudi on the call.
