TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State basketball team will play host to Ohio State on Dec. 30 at 7:30 on ESPN as one of the highlighted games of the 12th Annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Seminoles will host the Buckeyes at the Donald L. Tucker Center in one of four challenge games set for ESPN. Each of the 11 games of the challenge is set for the ESPN family of networks with only the Seminoles, North Carolina (at Illinois), Virginia Tech (against Purdue) and Duke (against Michigan State) slated to play on ESPN.
The Seminoles’ game against Ohio State is one of at least eight nationally televised games on their schedule as of August 15. Many more television dates will be added with numerous national television dates expected when the Seminoles’ schedule is finalized which will once again allow Florida State to be one of the most televised teams in the ACC and the nation.
The ACC has won 10 of the first 11 Challenges with ACC teams winning 67 of the 108 games played. A year ago, the Big Ten won its first Challenge by a six to five margin. Road teams won six of the 11 games in 2009 and seven of the contests were decided by seven points or less, including four games by four of fewer points.
Florida State has won four consecutive home games and is 4-1 in ACC/Big Ten Challenge games at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles most recently defeated Minnesota (75-61) in 2007 and established the challenge record for largest margin of victory in a 97-57 (+40 points) win over Purdue at home in 2005. Seminole head coach Leonard Hamilton is undefeated, 4-0, in challenge games played in Tallahassee.
