TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (25-16) will travel to DeLand, Fla., for a Tuesday matchup against Stetson (18-24). The first pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. on Melching Field at Conrad Park.
The game will stream live on ESPN3, while Eric Luallen will provide live play-by-play on the radio (106.1 FM in Tallahassee) and nationwide through the FSU Gameday App.
Taking the hill for the Seminoles will be left-hander Drew Parrish (3-2, 4.98 ERA) for his first start since April 17 against Clemson. Against the Tigers, the freshman lasted 4.1 innings and surrendered three runs while striking out six. This is his first midweek start after anchoring the weekend rotation for much of the season.
Set to pitch for the Hatters is freshman right-hander Ryan Stark (2-2, 4.81 ERA), who has made 17 appearances for Stetson, with only three of them coming as a starter. In his last start for the Hatters, Stark went three innings and gave up one run on four hits to the USF Bulls on April 11.
Tuesday’s game will be the second meeting of the season for Stetson and FSU, after the Seminoles won the first game 7-3 on April 19. Credited with the win for that Florida State victory was Clayton Kwiatkowski, who pitched a career-high 3.2 innings and struck out three.
Last week’s matchup also came with impressive offensive performances by Taylor Walls and Dylan Busby. Walls went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Busby went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored as well. Busby had a pair of home runs in the game, the first Nole this season with two home runs in a game.
Florida State had a four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday after an extra inning 5-4 loss to Miami. FSU wound up splitting the series 1-1 with the Hurricanes due to Sunday’s game being canceled by inclement weather after only two complete innings were played.
Florida State has an all-time winning record of 60-22 against Stetson.
Busby Named ACC Player of the Week
After leading FSU to a series win over No. 4 Clemson and a split against rival Miami, junior Dylan Busby has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The Sarasota native was 8-for-18 at the plate with 10 runs batted in, three home runs and a pair of doubles.
Against the Tigers on Monday, Busby’s three-run double gave FSU a 5-3 lead in a game the Seminoles eventually won 7-6 to take the series. On Wednesday against Stetson, Busby was 3-for-4 with three more RBI on two home runs. His multi-home run game was the first for Florida State this season.
In the Friday night opener at Miami, Busby was 3-for-5 with four RBI, three of which came on his third home run of the week. A ninth-inning double extended FSU’s lead to 6-3.
Along with the first two games of the Clemson series, Busby is the first player in FSU history to have at least three RBI in five straight games. His eight home runs are tied with Quincy Nieporte for the team lead, and his 31 career home runs lead active players in the ACC.
Busby is hitting .305 on the year after entering the Clemson series with a .270 average. He is the first Seminole to earn Player of the Week honors this season. Tyler Holton is a three-time winner of the Pitcher of the Week award.
This is Busby’s first career ACC Player of the Week honor.
Clemson’s Alex Eubanks won the Pitcher of the Week honor after striking out 12 in a shutout of No. 18 Wake Forest on Saturday.
