North Florida Leads, FSU Tied For 12th After Day One Of Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — North Florida fired a two-round team total of
two-under par, 574 to take the opening day lead at the sixth annual
Seminole Classic at Killearn Country Club today.

Florida State is tied for 12th in the 15-team event, 21 shots
behind UNF, at 19-over par, 595.

North Florida does not have a player in the top 10 but had three
shoot even par, 144 during today’s 36-holes. David Bennett (72-72), Matt
Borchert (74-70) and Kevin Mock (72-72) are all tied for 13th place.

Individually, East Tennessee State’s Chris Wisler is in the lead
after day one of the tournament. Wisler shot a five-under 67 in the
morning round, then followed up with a 71 in the afternoon to finish at
six-under, 138. He is one shot ahead of Alex Rocha of Mississippi State
(68-71-139) and two up on Alex Morgan of LSU (70-70-140).

Florida State’s top player today was Mark Donaldson. The junior
from Scotland is in a six-way tie for sixth place at two-under par, 142.
He carded rounds of 73 and 69.

“I thought Mark had a good day today,” said Seminole head coach Dr.
Ernie Lanford. “He battled back this afternoon. I think he is in good
position heading into the final 18 holes.”

The tournament concludes tomorrow with 18 holes beginning at 8:00
