Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State director of sports medicine Randy Oravetz announced Monday afternoon that junior left tackle Cory Niblock has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season. Niblock was injured on the final play of FSU’s loss at Clemson last Saturday. He will have surgery on the knee once the inflammation settles down, which would likely be a three-week period. Dr. Tom Haney of the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic will perform the surgery.
“Obviously it’s very frustrating,” Niblock said. “I was looking forward to getting things back on track down in Gainesville. Right now I’ll just do what the doctors and trainers tell me to do in terms of rehab. I should be ready to go for next season. I still plan on being around here to support these guys and help in any way I can.”
Niblock started all 10 games for the Seminoles at left tackle after spending the 2004 season as a starter at offensive guard. Senior Ron Lunford will step in as the starter for Niblock at left tackle against Florida.
