TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State fans will get a chance to welcome the football team to Doak Campbell Stadium before each home game beginning this season. The Seminole team, which spends the night out of town before home games, will begin the new pre-game routine against Virginia next week. In addition, fans can participate in the in the naming of the event by entering suggestions at www.seminoles.com beginning Wednesday, August 28.

“We are hoping that this will become a tradition for our team and fans at Florida State as it has for many schools around the country,” said FSU assistant athletic director Rob Wilson. “I know the fans would like to see the players before the game and we think the excitement will be good for the players as well. We are encouraging all the fans in the tailgating area to get over to Langford Green as soon as they hear the sirens and the public address announcements and give the team a big welcome when they arrive.”

The team buses should arrive at the stadium approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes before kickoff and the players will now disembark at the south end of Langford Green just beyond the bandstand at Seminole Village. Fans are encouraged to form a tunnel for the players to walk through down the middle of Langford Green before the team enters the stadium near the south end zone. Players will not be allowed to sign autographs or pose for photos. The gates to Doak Campbell Stadium will not open until two hours before kickoff so fans can not follow the team into the stadium or wait for them inside.
