Paranagua And Jerger Earn CCSA Pair Of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Victoria Paranagua and sophomore Macy Jerger earned CCSA Pair of the Week Honors after posting a 4-0 record this past week.Paranagua and Jerger helped lead the second-ranked Seminoles to a 2-2 record this past weekend at the East Meets West Invitational at Manhattan beach, Calif. Three of their four matches came against Top-10 teams including a 4-1 win No. 6 Long beach State.

The Seminole duo, who played at the number three position all weekend, went 4-0 and were responsible for one of FSU’s two points in both 2-3 setbacks to No. 3 Pepperdine and No. 4 UCLA – marking the first two losses of the season for the Garnet and Gold.

Paranagua and Jerger opened the tournament with a straight set victory over Long Beach State’s Morea Wagner and Heather Weiss, 21-15, 21-16, and straight set victory over Cal Poly’s Raeann Greisen and Heather Pembroke, 21-11, 22-20. They finished off the weekend with back-to-back three set victories over Pepperdine’s Skylar Caputo and Heidi Dyer, 21-16, 17-21, 15-10, and UCLA’s Elise Zappia and Torrey Van Winden, 21-18, 23-25, 15-13.

Paranagua and Jerger have now won six straight matches to start off the season, with all their wins coming in the No. 3 position.
