Paul Phipps Came to Florida State in 2009 as a Special Assistant to Florida State University Athletics, specializing in sports marketing with a primary focus on corporate sales, ticketing, promotions and digital media. In February, 2010 Paul assumed the role of Vice President/General Manager of the Florida State property for ISP Sports and Assistant Athletics Director for the Seminole Athletics department.
As a veteran of 30 years in sports marketing, Phipps served as Senior Vice President for Motorsports at Wasserman Media Group prior to coming to Florida State. He holds a tremendous amount of experience in the industry including Chief Marketing Officer at International Speedway Corporation, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Major League Soccer and Vice President Broadcasting/Promotions with the San Diego Padres.
Phipps spent the 1980’s in the National Basketball Association as Vice President, Business Operations with the Dallas Mavericks and served as Vice President/General Manager of Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets.
Phipps studied business management at California Lutheran University and also completed an Associate Program at the American Management Association, Inc., at Harvard Business College, and the Executive Program at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
