Pickett Continues To Merit Pre-Season All-ACC Honors

Nov. 10, 2003

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Florida State University senior guard Tim Pickett, who averaged 17.1 points and ranked fourth in the nation with a 2.83 steals per game average as a junior, enters the 2003-04 season as a consensus pre-season All-ACC First-Team selection. He has been named to the pre-season all-conference team by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association, the Sporting News and ESPN.com among many of the number of national publications who have selected the top players in each college basketball conference.

Pickett was an All-ACC second-team selection as a junior in 2003 as he averaged a team leading 17.1 points and a team leading 5.7 rebounds per game. He ranked fourth in the nation with a 2.83 steals per game average as a junior and led the ACC in steals with 82 as a junior. Pickett became the first Seminole since Charlie Ward in 1994 to lead the ACC in steals in a season. His 2.8 steals per game average was the main reason Florida State averaged 9.4 steals per game to rank second in the ACC and 16th in the nation in team steals

Pickett led Florida State in virtually every statistical category including points per game (17.1), rebounds per game (5.7) and steals per game (2.8) in becoming the first Seminole since James Collins during the 1996-97 season to earn All-ACC second-team or higher honors.

Florida State continues its two-game exhibition season as its plays host to the Nike Elite All-Stars Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center. The Seminoles open their regular season as they play host to Maine November 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the season opener against the Black Bears and for the entire season are available on seminoles.com or by calling 1-888-FSU-NOLE.
