Describe yourself in 4 words
Energetic, fun, loyal, sarcastic!
What keeps you driven and focused on these goals and on your golf
“The desire to be the best person and golfer I can be.”
What’s the difference between your home in Australia and being here at Florida State?
“The distance to the beach! That was probably the hardest thing to come to terms with. The facilities here are amazing. We have nothing of this scale at home, especially for golf. And also, being in a team environment all the time is really great.”
Was coming to school in the U.S. easier or more difficult than you first imagined?
I knew it was going to be hard to adjust at first, and it was. Moving to a place you hardly know without any of your family or friends is always hard. Having been away for a year in Europe prior to coming here made it easier on me as I was used to being away from home. My teammates also made the transition much easier. They took me in and made me feel welcome straight away which helped me settle in.”
What do you enjoy most about being a Seminole?
“I really enjoy the school spirit. Standing in the football stadium at my first football game hearing 80,000 people sing the fight song gave me shivers!”
What are some obstacles or things you have found to be difficult in your transition to the United States and to Florida State?
“The most difficult thing for me was getting here and getting started — having to go through all the paperwork, interviews to get a visa, flights, medical records.. you name it – it was tough. Then, once I was here, getting cleared to play. And there are a lot of things you can’t do or get without a social security number.”
What do you miss most about your home in Australia?
The things I miss the most are my family, friends and the beach. Although I’ve made some awesome friends here, I miss my friends from home. A lot changes from year to year at this time in our lives and it’s hard knowing that each time I go home, more and more will have changed.”
Where do you feel your need to do to improve your game or take it to the next level?
“The one thing I need to improve the most on is my ball striking. Unfortunately I had to take a lot of time off this semester and that set me back from where I was. I am still recovering from knee surgery and need to get back into the game. Playing and practicing a lot over the summer will help me to do that. I am going home for most of the summer so I will be working with my coach to get rid of old habits and hopefully gain back the distance I have lost lately.”
What are your hobbies what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
“I really enjoy driving and listening to music, going to all kinds of Florida State games, shopping, laying by the pool and meeting new people.”
You are stranded on a raft out in the middle of the ocean, choose three things that you would have with you and tell us why?
An Iphone – for music, a phone, and the applications — hey have so many different things on them they could keep you entertained for days! I would also have to have Wendy’s nuggets – enough said! and one of my best friends to keep me company”
