Playing A Round With Women’s Golfer Caroline Westrup

Freshman Caroline Westrup, a member of the Seminole women’s golf team, earned the first individual win of her collegiate career as she took home individual medalist honors at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. As she and her teammates prepare for the upcoming Ryder/Florida Championship, Westrup took time out of her busy schedule to visit with and give some insight to the newest golfer on campus.

What is the biggest difference between living in Sweden and the United States?
The biggest difference between being at home in Sweden and in my new home in the United States is not seeing my parents. Other differences include the food, the weather and the fact that you can play golf every day.

What is your most memorable moment since you have been in the United States?
My most memorable moment so far came when I won the tournament last weekend at the University of Georgia. I hope to have many exciting moments as my career at Florida State progresses and we work our way back into the national rankings.

What is your favorite junk food?
My favorite junk food would be a Smoothie (if that counts). It that doesn’t count, my favorite is pizza.

Do you have a specific pre-match ritual?
I do have a routine in how I prepare myself. I always do the same things before I go out on the course and play a tournament.

If you weren’t playing golf, what sport would you be playing or what would you be doing?
I participated in the sport of gymnastics for six years and I really enjoy that sport but you can’t do that you whole life. If not for golf, I would probably be a tennis player.

What is your best golf memory?
The best memory I have as a golfer is when I played for Sweden in the Junior Solheim Cup and we defeated the United States. I am looking forward to my best memory in golf coming as a member of the Florida State women’s golf team.

What is your dream car?
The dream car that I would like to own would be the Mercedes Z3.

What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without?
The one thing I wouldn’t be able to do without is my family.

Are you a morning or an evening person?
I would say that I am kind of both. I do not mind getting up early in the morning and I can stay up late too.

Who is your favorite golfer to watch play?
My favorite golfer is Henrik Stenson of Sweden.

Who is the one person you would like to play a round of golf with?
I would love to play a round of golf with Tiger Woods. It would be incredible to be able to watch him and learn from him on every shot.

What age did you start playing golf?
I got my first club when I was two years old but did not start playing the sport until I was six.

What is your favorite movie and why?
I don’t really have a favorite movie because I like lots of movies. I enjoy watching comedies because they are fun to watch.

What’s the one place in the world you would most like to visit?
I have always wanted to visit Australia.

What would you do with $1 million?
If I won $1 million, I would invite my whole family on a vacation. We would go to an awesome place where we could have a lot of fun! I would also put much of the money in the bank and save that for my golf career and give some to charity to help those who are less fortunate than I am.
