Tallahassee, Fla. – Redshirt senior Lacy Janson’s (Sarasota, Fla./Cardinal Mooney) vault at the 2006 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this past weekend was recognized by the league as she was named Atlantic Coast Conference co-Performer of the Week on Monday, April 10, 2006. She shares the honor with Miami’s Dominique Darden.
Competing in Austin, Tex., over the weekend, Janson shattered the FSU school record with an event-winning vault of 14’7.25″ (4.45m). The mark is the best in the conference, region and nation and fifth best overall in the world this year. The five-time All-American reset the Seminole event best of 14’4″ (4.37m) that she set in 2003, a week after winning her first NCAA Indoor National Champion.
Three out of the last four weekly track honors this season have been won by an FSU student-athlete. Senior LaKendra McColumn (Lithonia, Ga./Southwest Dekalb) won the honor for the week of March 27 and classmate Andrew Lemoncello (St. Andrews, Scotland/Stirling) earned co-Performer of the Week honors on April 3. The Seminoles did not compete during the weekend of the first award (March 20).
Florida State will continue training and practice sessions at home before heading to Winston-Salem, N.C. next Wednesday, April 19, for the 2006 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Wake Forest University.
