The Florida State football team reported for preseason practice Tuesday morning and went through physicals before heading to Mike Long Track for the end of summer conditioning test in the afternoon. True freshmen and players who worked out during the summer were excused from the run, which left just 20 Seminoles to participate in the 16 110-yard sprints. Matt Heinz (back) and Brian Ross (fractured leg) were the only two players not cleared for action.
“We had really good participation in the weight room this summer,” said strength and conditioning coach Jon Jost. “Everybody training in the summer is far more beneficial in terms of preparing for the first day of practice.”
A team dinner and orientation followed the conditioning test Tuesday evening. The full squad will practice for the first time Wednesday afternoon in shorts after morning segment meetings. Media/fan day is scheduled for Sunday and the first two-a-day practice will be held Monday. The first scrimmage is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13th.
