How different is spring practice compared to fourth quarter drills?
Harris: Things are going well. Everyone is getting adjusted to football mode and actually playing football instead of doing all of the running and conditioning drills.
There wasn’t much down time since you returned from the 2010 Chick-Fil-A Bowl. How does it feel to be back on the field playing football again?
Harris: There is no offseason. Year round it is football now. We are working as a team trying to develop more. We are hoping to come through with a national championship this year.
Is it a different feeling practicing on the old intramural fields while the old practice fields are being leveled?
Harris: It’s a lot longer walk than I thought it would be when practice was right here on our practice fields. It’s and adjustment, but we have to get it done.
This spring there are a lot of guys who are out recovering from offseason injuries. One of those guys is Xavier Rhodes. Do you feel like the coaches have more confidence in you after your performance last season?
Harris: They are expecting a lot more of me. They are expecting me to come in and play a lot more as a true corner. It is an adjustment and a challenge that I am willing to take.
What is the biggest difference in playing nickel from the regular package on defense?
Harris: In nickel it is a lot more zone. You have to communicate with the linebackers and safeties. When you are out wide you are out on an island and just one on one with the receiver. It is a lot more challenging.
Do you like the opportunity to show what you can do one on one with a receiver?
Harris: It’s a challenge but it is a challenge that I am up for. I have been looking forward to this for a long time. This is just another opportunity for me to come out and compete.
This is your first spring practice at Florida State. Is this a different experience for you?
Harris: It’s a little different but I am well adjusted. We have been preparing with individual workouts and drills for a couple of months so I am adjusted and it is going great so far.
This is your final year of eligibility at Florida State does that factor in to how you practice each day?
Harris: This is my first and last spring here at Florida State so I am trying to make the best of it.
Can you tell a difference on the defense especially with all of the leaders on defense that you lost last year?
Harris: The team is a little bit different but I think we are coming together. We are a lot closer now than we were last year. We lost some key components but for the most part we will be able to put it back together and come out with a great season.
