TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State freshman Marina Raic won the flight B championship today in the Lady Seminole Classic held at Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Raic defeated fellow Seminole Ali Weber 6-4, 6-3 in the finals.
“Marina played flawless tennis in her final two matches of the
tournament,” said head coach Lise Gregory.
“Marina is one of those players that really doesn’t know how good she
is,” added Gregory. “Once she learns to trust and have confidence in
herself, she is going to be an unbelievable tennis player.”
Also earning runner-up honors with Weber, was Lady Seminole Natalie
Carratala. Carratala was downed in the flight C championship match 4-6,
6-4, 6-3 by Minnesota’s Tammy Wang.
The entire Lady Seminole tennis team advanced through the first round of the tournament before being eliminated in the late rounds of the tournament or going on to the flight championship.
“Our team met their goal this tournament,” said Gregory. “We were

The Lady Seminole Classic is one of four fall tournaments Florida State uses to prepare for their upcoming 1999 season. The Seminoles are maturing quickly in the fall and look forward to an exciting spring.
“I’m thrilled that we have four girls that can play number one for us at any given time,” said Gregory. “Due to the success we have had in the fall, we are all ready to get our dual matches underway in the spring.”
