GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Christie Raleigh (Toms River, N.J.) has done it again earning her third consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week. Raleigh earned the award after another impressive showing during the Seminoles’ road trip to south Florida October 27-28. The ACC has only given the award out three times this season and all three times Raleigh has been the recipient.
Raleigh, the 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year, got the road trip started on a high note Friday, October 27, as she helped Florida State defeat Miami 199-98. Raleigh won the 50 free (23.17) and 100 fly (55.05) recording NCAA “B” cut times in both events. She was also a part of the winning 400 medley and 400 free relays.
On Saturday, October 28, Raleigh continued to out perform her competition as she helped guide FSU to two more victories over Florida Atlantic 187-112 and Florida International 245-51. Raleigh once again took nothing but gold earning victories in the 50 free (23.43) and 200 fly (2:01.63). Both times were once again NCAA “B” cuts. Raleigh was also on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays.
As it currently stands in the ACC, Raleigh holds five of the conference’s fastest times. Those times included the 50 back (26.40), 50 free (23.03), 100 free (50.69), 100 fly (54.37) and 200 fly (2:01.63).
The Florida State (No. 14) women’s and (No. 15) men’s swimming and diving teams will be back in action November 16-18 at the Nike Cup Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
