TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – CoSIDA, in conjunction with ESPN the Magazine, announced the Academic All-District III winners of the University Division on Thursday, May 6. Florida State’s James Ramsey was named to this year’s District III team earning first team accolades.
Ramsey is in his first year as a full-time starter for the Seminoles and has started every game in right field in 2010. Heading in to the Boston College series, the sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., is batting .270 in 45 games. He leads the team in triples (4) and hit-by-pitches (9) and tied for second in RBI with 40. Ramsey has drawn 36 base-on-balls, including 11 multi-walk games and four games this year with three walks.
Ramsey was the first Seminole to register a multi-home run game in 2010 hitting a pair against Georgia to start the three-game series. He finished the night with three runs scored and a career-high four RBI. The sophomore right fielder is tied for the team lead with two outfield assists. Ramsey is a three-time member of the Dean’s List at Florida State (Fall 2008, 2009 and Spring 2010), while earning President’s List honors following the spring 2010 semester for posting a 4.0 GPA. He was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll (2008-09) and was the recipient of the Golden Torch Award for the highest GPA on the baseball team during the 2008-09 season.
As a first team honoree, Ramsey will now be in the running for national Academic All-America honors which will be voted on later this year.
