GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Andy Hodgson‘s dominant weekend has earned him ACC Performer of the Week honors on Tuesday, December 09.
“There were a lot of great swims this weekend that were worthy of the honor this week,” FSU head coach Neil Harper said. “Andy had an incredible meet and we’re excited for him and our team.”
Hodgson broke two conference and three school records at the 2008 ConocoPhillips USA Short Course National Championships in Atlanta, Ga. He finished third in the 200 back with a conference and school record time of 1:41.99 and teamed with seniors Jarryd Botha and Ed Denton and sophomore Robby Hayes to break the conference and school record in the 400 free relay (3:54.53). Hodgson also broke the school record in the 200 free (1:35.28). In addition to those swims, the native of Blackpool, England also earned NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 100 back (48.30), 200 free relay (1:19.79) and 200 medley relay (1:28.42).
Hodgson was named Collegiate Swimming and ACC Performer of the Week earlier this season for his efforts against Alabama. Florida State will return to action at home on Tuesday, January 26, against Boston College.
