TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Last month sophomore Anderson Reed won the singles draw of the 2010 ITA Summer Circuit hosted by Florida State to advance to the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships at the Indiana University Varsity Tennis Center. The winner of the tournament is awarded a wild card into the All-Americans tournament in the fall.
After receiving a bye in the first round, the Daphne, Ala., native defeated IUPUI’s Chase Emersen in the second round on Saturday 6-3, 6-1. That day he also faced Stephen Hoh of Illinois, who was seeded in the 8-16 group, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (4).
Reed faced No. 4 seed Stephen Havens of Notre Dame today 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (4). After starting with 128 players, Reed is now in the quarterfinals and will play tomorrow at 9:00am against Patrick Daciek of Virginia Tech.
“It feels good to post these good wins before I go back to school,” said Reed. “It gives me the confidence I need to be able to compete at in the higher college level. I have worked hard to keep progressing over the summer and these two big wins have shown the hard work.”
