Heavy rain all day Saturday forced the cancelation of the remaining games in the 2006 NFCA Leadoff Classic. Officials had hoped to play an abbreviated schedule on Sunday but the area received over two inches of rain on Saturday, making the fields at the South Commons Complex unplayable.
The Florida State softbaall team will be back in action on Tuesday (Feb. 28) in Tallahasee, but as the visitor as the Seminoles visit Florida A&M at 6 p.m. The next home game for FSU is Thursday, March 2, when it takes on defending national champion Michigan at 5 p.m.
The Seminoles dropped both of their NFCA games on Friday to a pair of ranked teams. FSU got a great pitching performance from Tiffany McDonald but couldn’t push a run across as it lost 1-0 to No. 2 Tennessee after dropping a 14-0 decision to No. 14 Louisiana-Lafayette.
