Revival Signs!

Feb. 1, 2010

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – There’s a palpable beat behind the Florida State football program leading up to National Signing Day, headed by the efforts of newly-minted coach Jimbo Fisher and his energized staff and reverberating throughout the athletic department.

In celebration of the anticipated arrival of a top 10 class, Florida State athletics in conjunction with Seminole Boosters Inc. and ISP Sports, is staging the second Signing Day Spectacular for fans, Wednesday at the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum from 6-8:30 p.m. More than 1,000 Seminole fans have registered for the event, sponsored by SunTrust, which will provide a detailed look at the members of FSU’s 2010 signing class through the eyes of Fisher and the coaching staff.

While the originating venue is completely booked, Seminole fans won’t be left out. There will be satellite “War Party” events staged simultaneously throughout the state – and nation – including two others in Tallahassee, where fans can be a part of the originating event, which will be streamed, free and live at www.seminoles.com.

A complete list of “War Party” watching venues can be found below, as well as contact information for each location.

Since closing out the 2009 season with a 33-21 Gator Bowl victory over West Virginia, securing Florida State’s 33rd consecutive winning campaign, Fisher and his staff have been working feverishly to close out their first signing class. The fruits of their efforts will be realized February 3, with the arrival of signed national letters of intent from a host of the nation’s top high school players.

The excitement building behind the Seminoles’ 2010 season doesn’t stop with the arrival of another celebrated class of players. Early returns on the behind-the-scenes efforts of Seminole Boosters and the Florida State ticket office indicate that Seminole fans have a renewed enthusiasm for the program’s future.

Based on year-to-date comparisons, renewal of booster membership is up 90 percent from this point in 2009, while they are enjoying nearly a 17 percent increase in monetary gifts.

Season ticket renewals and new season ticket purchases for 2010 are even more impressive statistically. The ticket office is reporting an 80 percent increase in new sales over the total from this time last year, while renewals, bolstered by an early push, are up from 423 to a whopping 2,327. That’s a 450 percent increase.

Florida State fans anxious to build on those numbers will have the opportunity to do so Wednesday night as telephone lines will be open to accept booster memberships and season ticket orders. As an added bonus, FSU football players will be manning the phones at 1-888-378-NOLES (6653) or 850-644-1830, to take your calls.
