TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – (Seminoles.com) – The fifth-ranked Florida State indoor volleyball team (13-0, 2-0) looks to continue its undefeated streak on the road this weekend against Georgia Tech (3-8, 0-2) and Miami (8-5, 1-1). The Seminoles will play the Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Hurricanes at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
“It’s a tough weekend,” FSU head coach Chris Poole said. “Georgia Tech is always a difficult place to play. It’s a small gym with a lot of noise and we’ve always struggled in there. Miami is always a rivalry match and it’s one of the most competitive matches in the conference each year.”
The Seminoles opened up ACC play with a pair of 3-0 sweeps over No. 12 North Carolina and Notre Dame last weekend in Tully Gym, extending their home conference winning streak to 30 matches.
FSU will also take an 11-set winning streak on the road along with the 13-0 record-setting start.
“We’re pumped,” junior outside hitter Nicole Walch said. “We’re excited to see where we’ll go from here. This is the highest we’ve ever been ranked in school history and we’re really focused right now. We don’t want to underestimate any team and last year we stubbed our toes at Georgia Tech, so it’s important for us to come out strong and keep focused for both these matches.”
Georgia Tech leads the all-time series (37-20) after a split in 2013. The Jackets first defeated the Noles 3-1 in Atlanta, before the Seminoles closed the regular season with a 3-0 sweep in Tully.
Florida State holds the series advantage over Miami (23-17-1) following a pair of 3-1 victories in 2013.
“We have to keep playing our game,” junior outside hitter Karlie Hauer said. “It doesn’t matter who we’re playing. Every game is an opportunity to improve and we all have that same goal for the end of the season.”
