Greensboro, N.C. – Senior Joel Roycik (Winter Park, Fla.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week (announced Monday, December 5). This is the first time that Roycik has received this honor in his career.
Roycik recorded three top two finishes for the No. 16 Seminoles, as they dropped a tight meet to No.7 Florida 126-115, on Tuesday, November 22, for their first loss of the season. Roycik took first place in the 100 free with a time of 44.84. The Winter Park native then picked up another win as he helped the 200 free relay team to a first place finish with an NCAA B qualifying standard time of 1:20.40. Roycik also swam as a part of the 200 medley relay team who took second place in 1:30.20.
Roycik has earned multiple honors over the course of his career, which includes being named to the All-ACC team in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and winning ACC championships in the 100 fly (2004) and 400 free relay (2005).
The Florida State men’s (No. 14) and women’s (No. 17) swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Friday, January 6 when they take on Penn State in Naples, Fla.
