TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Katie Rybakova (Coral Springs, Fla.) wrapped up her season and career as a Seminole Wednesday, May 25 as the senior fell to No. 41 Noelle Hickey 6-2, 6-2 of UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Individual Championships held at Stanford’s Taube Tennis Center in Palo Alto, Calif. Sophomore Noemie Scharle (Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg) also had a first round exit falling 6-2, 6-3 to No. 34 Kristi Boxx of Mississippi.
As the most successful women’s tennis player in program history, Rybakova finishes second in Florida State history with 103 all-time wins in singles and a school record four All-ACC honors. This marked her third trip to the NCAA Individual Championships and Scharle’s second.
The NCAA tournament is taking place at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., at the Taube Family Tennis Center. The school has been hosting the team championships since May 19 and it continues through May 30 at the conclusion of singles and doubles finals.
