TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team just added another point to its already exceptional season highlights list as senior Ania Rynarzewska and freshman Katie Rybakova were named to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Team. Rynarzewska is a two-time recipient of the honor as she was also named to the team as a freshman in 2006.
In order to be eligible for the prestigious award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Both Seminoles were an important component in the success of this year’s team. Rybakova, an English Education major, sported a 26-9 singles record while Rynarzewska went 16-9 in singles’ play.
Head Coach Jennifer Hyde and the Seminoles earned the highest ranking in program history at No.12 and the women’s team hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
The ACC awarded 23 women’s tennis student-athletes for their hard work and desire to excel not only in tennis, but also in school.
