Oct. 9, 2006
Florida State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee concluded it’s orientation for the 2006-2007 academic year with their second retreat held on October 1st. The retreat was conducted at the Seminole Golf Course with SAAC members wrapping up their agenda and goals for the year.
Student-Athletes kicked off their final retreat with some opening remarks and went right into upcoming events and activities. They received their informative notebooks to help guide them through the process and members discussed the progress along with upcoming games for their respective sports. SAAC members were also educated on the process of NCAA certification, a process conducted every five years. Florida State will go through this process from October 2nd-October 4th. SAAC will be meeting with the representatives from the NCAA to provide some insight into the experience of FSU’s Student-Athletes.
The putting green was the next stop for the group where four teams displayed their golf skills. There was an advantage for the SAAC members who represent Florida State’s Golf Team, however, some of the others showed off some impressive skill and technique. Following the `Tiger Woods’ display of golf excellence, members of SAAC put their creative abilities to the test with a friendly game of pictionary, women versus men. Both teams flexed their artistic muscles showing off their drawing skills.
The final retreat concluded in the Seminole Golf Course Renegade Grill where SAAC members enjoyed a filling meal while catching up on the NFL games of the day. The 2006-2007 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been introduced and educated on the importance of their roles as representatives of the entire Student-Athlete community at Florida State and are ready to achieve success this upcoming year.
