Salas Inks NLI for Women’s Tennis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team added a strong signee for the 2018 class as Emmanuelle Salas of Thonon Les Bains, France signed her National Letter of Intent.

“We are very excited to announce the official signing of Emmanuelle to our roster for the fall of 2018,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “She is currently enrolled at Florida State and is already learning the ropes of the program, which will only better prepare her for what is to come when she is wearing the Garnet and Gold in September.”

“She brings a tremendous amount of international experience to an already very loaded roster that we have. She has very big goals for her career and will make immediate contributions to this program. Even though she is not yet playing for us, she is already making a huge impact within the team.”

Salas had a career-high junior’s ITF ranking of 133, which included a quarterfinals appearance in the 2016 Junior French Championships at Roland Garros. Salas was also a member of the U16 French National Team in 2014, placing third in the European Championships. Salas has a career-high WTA ranking of 764 in singles and 844 in doubles. She has had a great deal of success this spring on the Professional Tour. She recently competed at the prestigious Indian Harbour Beach $60K ITF event, where she won three consecutive matches to earn a spot in the main draw. Salas also participated in the Orlando $15k ITF event where she qualified for the main draw and fell to the eventual champion.

Salas is joining a roster that has started the 2018 season with a 16-7 record and currently ranks No. 18 in the Oracle/ITA poll.

“She is an absolute sweetheart and a perfect fit for the girls already in the program,” said Hyde. “She is an unbelievable competitor who is going to do some serious damage in competition for Florida State, alongside her teammates. We could not be more excited to have her competing for us starting in September. The future for this program looks very bright.”
