BROWNS SUMIT, N.C. (seminoles.com) –
Florida State junior Maria Salinas carded a two over par 74 and has moved into the top 20 in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team is in 12th place after two rounds of the Bryan National Collegiate on the Bryan’s Park Champions Course. Salinas is in a tie for 19th place in the individual standings with a two day total of 149 – she is only six strokes behind the lead of Laetitia Beck of Duke University.

Wake Forest took over the lead from Tennessee as the two teams switched places in the standings. The Deacons lead the Lady Vols by one stroke with 18 holes remaining to be played. Both Wake Forest and Tennessee have two players currently in the top 10 and four players in the top 20 of the individual standings. Beck of Duke has the individual lead with a two day total of 143 with scores of 71 and 72.

Salinas (Lima, Peru) has a 36 hole total of 149 with single round scores of 75 and 74 in the first two rounds. She began the day in a tie for 27th place after the first round and moved up eight places in the individual standings with her score of 74. Salinas was at her best as she made up two strokes over her final seven holes of the afternoon with three birdies and two holes at par. She was four over after 11 holes and finished at two over par. Salinas begins play in the final round only three strokes out of the top five and only six strokes out of the individual lead.

Junior Hannah Thomson (Perth, Australia) played the best round of golf for the Seminoles in round two as she finished with a one over par score of 73. She moved into a tie for 26th place in the individual standings as she improved her score by a team leading four strokes in the second round as compared to the first round. Thomson, too, was outstanding late in the round as she made up two strokes with three birdies over her final 10 holes of the round.

The Seminoles will look to move up in the team standings in the final round of the event which begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Seminoles will play with Washington and South Carolina.
