BOISE, ID. — The Florida State women’s track and field team was represented at the NCAA Track and Field Championships by five athletes. Junior Samantha George, sophomores Fiona Norwood, Ayana Townsend, and Tangela Wobbleton, and freshman Laura Gerber were all apart of FSU’s 4x400m relay team, while George also qualified to compete in the 400m dash.
In the 400m dash, George won her heat with a time of 53.48 in the preliminaries to earn a spot in the final four heats. On Saturday evening, George ran in Heat 2 and finished in fourth place with a time of 54.36, failing to qualify for one of the top eight spots in the Championships. Of the final 18 sprinters in the final four heats, George ran the 13th fastest time.
The Florida State women’s 4x400m relay team competed on Thursday, June 3rd, and finished in seventh place of their heat with a time of 3:39.04. The team was over two seconds off their best time of the year, which was a 3:36.31 at the meet with Florida, Fresno State, and Illinois on May 1st.
