Saturday’s Day Two Action At The Tallahassee Democrat/Sunshine Classic Canceled

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Due to inclement weather, all of Saturday’s games at the Tallahassee Democrat/Sunshine Classic have been canceled. Play will resume at 9:00 a.m. Sunday with the tournament champion decided during round-robin play.


Florida State will resume play Sunday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. versus the University of Texas and will follow that game with a match-up at 3:00 p.m. versus No. 22 Mississippi State. Kansas will open Sunday’s action at 9:00 a.m. versus Texas and will follow that game with a 11:00 a.m. game versus Mississippi State.


Recapping the first day of Sunshine Classic action, FSU used a 5-run rally in the sixth and seventh innings to move past Kansas 5-4. Kimmy Carter got the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh as the Tribe opened up a tournament with a victory for the first time in four tries.


In the nightcap, Texas and No. 22 Mississippi State played a record-setting game, which the Longhorns won in 14 innings 1-0. Texas starter Cat Osterman set a UT single-game record with 23 strikeouts as the two teams played the longest game in Seminole Softball Complex history.
