Athletic Director’s Cup

Congratulations to our Women’s Golf team as they win the Athletic Director’s Cup for Service for an unprecedented FOURTH year in a row with one of the highest number of hours per student-athlete in the history of the award. The final standings for the 2004-2005 year are as follows (including the number of hours per student athlete):

2. Volleyball………………………………30.78

3. Women’s Basketball………………….26.86

4. Men’s Tennis………………………… 17.28

5. Women’s Cross Country……………..13.7

The top five teams did an amazing amount of community service over the course of the year, and we had many amazing individuals stand out. Keep up the great work. The athletic department as a whole did over 4,200 hours of community service this year. Fantastic!!

Thanks to all of you who have already contributed their valuable time and energy this year. You contributed immensely to the Tallahassee community this year and they appreciate it. Keep up the good work.

Team hours are compiled from April through March and include all hours student-athletes complete in service to the community. Individual student-athletes are responsible for turning in a community service verification card stating the total hours for each activity (Serv Script forms, properly authorized, are also accepted). Each team’s hours are summed together and then divided by the number of student-athletes on that team, yielding the “average hours per individual” at the end of the year (April 1st) wins. In addition, the ACC recognizes the top six individuals with the highest commitment to service with the “Top Six” Award. Both the Top Six Award and the Athletic Director’s Cup for Community Service are presented at the Annual Golden Nole Awards banquet held in April. The 2004-2005 ACC Top Six for Community Service recipients are as follows:

Ytai Abouzigar………………Men’s Tennis
Andrew Diakos……………..Men’s Track
Rodney Gallon………………Football
Carey Galuppi………………Women’s Softball
Renee Hill…………………..Women’s Volleyball
Cathleen Willy………………Women’s Cross Country

The Seminole Impact Awards are presented to individuals, groups or teams who have distinguished themselves as having a strong commitment to community service and that commitment has created a positive impact in the community through their continued participation. In the past, this award has been presented to entities that have either singularly done impressive amounts of service to the community, or have given birth to new community service programs, that will continue into the future. This year’s recipients are as follows:

Sarah Griffin………………Women’s Volleyball
Men and Women’s Swimming and Diving Team
