Scott and Diakos Conclude Penn Relays with Fourth Place Finishes

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2005 Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., on Saturday, April 30.

Senior All-American Dorian Scott (Springfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep), coming off his first Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in the shot put, threw 61’1.75″ (18.79m) for fourth place in the shot put section of the meet. Fellow thrower redshirt junior Andrew Diakos (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) also finished fourth, posting a distance of 193’10” (59.09m) in the hammer throw.

Junior LaToya Legree (Lithonia, Ga./Stephenson) recorded a mark of 40’0.75″ (12.31m) in the triple jump championship, good for 12th place. Classmate Kate Purcell (West Point, Pa./Southern Illinois-Edwardsville) was ninth in the javelin with a distance of 135’4″ (41.26m).

On Friday, freshman Elliott Wood (Sydney, Australia/Narrabean Sports) ran a 54.01 in the 400m hurdles for sixth in heat three.
