TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
The second round of the University of Alabama/Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament at the Capstone Club of Alabama has been cancelled because heavy overnight and morning rain has made the course unplayable. The event is scheduled to conclude with a final round of 18 holes scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
First round action was suspended Sunday afternoon when rain and lightning forced the final three groups off the course with only two holes remaining to be played. The unfinished round is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday with the final round beginning when those teams finish play.
Florida State, led by senior Katie Quinney’s first round 74, is among the clubhouse leaders with a team score of 306. The Seminoles were one of the nine teams who were able to finish play in the first round before the inclement weather forced the suspension of play.
Florida State is only four strokes behind Alabama and Mississippi State who are tied for the team lead with only the incomplete list of first round scores turned in. The Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs each finished with first round team scores of 302.
