Catcher Jeremy Salazar and centerfielder Brian Cox each belted two hits and drove in three runs as they led No. 10 Florida State (39-12) to a 13-1 win over Southwestern Louisiana (29-16) at Dick Howser Stadium.

Freshman left-hander Chris Ginn (2-2) held the Ragin’ Cajuns to one run on six hits and struck out a career-high seven batters in six innings pitched. Ginn earned the win in his first start since March 11th.

USL starting pitcher Scott Dohman did not allow a hit in three innings pitched but was relieved by Willis Lalay (0-5) who surrendered five runs on four hits in the loss.

Leftfielder Karl Jernigan’s two-run double in the fifth inning sparked a six-run rally to break a 1-1 tie. Salazar capped off the inning with his 13th home run of the season, a three-run blast to leftfield.

The Seminoles put three more runs on the board in the sixth inning with an RBI-single by shortstop Brett Groves and a two-run double by Cox.

Rightfielder Matt Diaz hit a two-run shot in the seventh inning to give FSU a 12-1 lead. Diaz’ home run was his 12th of the season.

Third baseman Jose Zabala doubled and came home on a single by catcher Jeremiah Klosterman for FSU’s final run of the game.
