TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 20/23 Florida State softball team returns to the Seminole Softball Complex for this weekend’s Seminole Classic at JoAnne Graf Field.
Two days after earning a 9-2 win at Florida A&M, the Seminoles (5-1) welcome Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and South Dakota State to town for a three-day tournament.
All four teams will play against one another on Friday starting at 9 a.m. and then on Saturday beginning at the same time. The winners and losers of each game will then match up Saturday afternoon and then a championship game and consolation game will be played Sunday morning.
FSU will be looking to build off an impressive showing at the Lady Rattlers Softball Complex when it opens the tournament with a 12:15 against Coastal Carolina.
Offensively, Florida State was just as successful. Two players — Tory Haddad and Tiffani Brown — achieved their first home runs as Seminoles and head coach Lonni Alameda was able to get several young players experience in the batting lineup.
This weekend’s tournament will be the last one at home for the Seminoles this year. FSU will play in a tournament in Columbus, Ga. next week before heading to Florida Atlantic’s campus for several games the following week. The ‘Noles round out their tournament schedule with games in Clearwater, Fla. at the USF The Game Tournament in late March.
This Sunday, children that wish to participate in a postgame clinic following the day’s last contest can sign up online at the softball page on Seminoles.com.
