Tim Pickett scored Florida State’s first 11 points to lead his team to a 65-52 win Saturday over Clemson. Pickett, the only Florida State double-figurer scorer, had 15 of his game-high 16 points in the first half as the Seminoles (17-8, 5-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) built a 35-26 lead at the break. Florida State received an added boost from its bench, which outscored Clemson’s reserves 32-13. The Seminoles shot 50 percent from the floor and held a 33-30 rebounding advantage against the Tigers, the ACC’s top rebounding team.

Fourteen players who earned first or second team All-Conference honors this past season, including two-time recepient Michael Boulware from FSU, also secured spots on the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic football team as announced by Commissioner John Swofford. To be eligible, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
